Italian Red Cross donates 70,200 medicines to Venezuela for earthquake relief

The Italian Red Cross has donated 70,200 units of antibiotics and analgesics to the Venezuelan Red Cross to assist populations affected by earthquakes that occurred on June 24. This delivery marks the official start of a bilateral cooperation agreement between the two national societies.

The medical supplies will be distributed through Venezuela’s public health system and via humanitarian medical operations conducted by the Venezuelan Red Cross in vulnerable communities. These efforts aim to expand treatment availability in priority zones and support medical personnel in the field.

Since the onset of the emergency, the Venezuelan Red Cross has provided 24,596 health services across more than 43 communities, benefiting approximately 29,464 people (7,366 families). Their response includes general healthcare, mental health and psychosocial support, water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), and community protection.
