Sassuolo launches intermodal transport hub and urban renewal project

Sassuolo and the Emilia-Romagna region have launched a major urban regeneration and mobility project to create an intermodal transport hub. The initiative aims to connect the Sassuolo-Modena (Terminal) and Sassuolo-Reggio Emilia (Radici) railway stations with buses, cycling paths, and exchange parking to serve the regional ceramic district.

A five-year protocol involving the Region, the Municipality of Sassuolo, Fer, and the Modena Mobility Agency (Amo) establishes a steering committee to manage the project. Planned interventions include public space upgrades, improved urban connections, and the repurposing of railway properties for social and public use. The project includes an 800,000 euro investment, with 552,000 euros provided by the Region to revitalize the historic center through urban furniture, incentives for local businesses, and support for digital and ecological transitions.

Additionally, the Emilia-Romagna region has allocated 205,000 euros to Sarsina for a territorial hub project designed to link cultural heritage, nature, and local commerce to boost economic growth and tourism.
