Italian regional art initiatives receive recognition and funding
In Italy, several cultural initiatives are highlighting regional art and heritage. In Pescocanale, the Lenatorte APS association organized the “Inquadrando EmigrArte” painting competition to explore themes of emigration. The event, which turned the village into an open-air studio, awarded first prize to Maria Pia Ricciardi, followed by Antonio Altieri in second and Antonio Mazziale in third.
Meanwhile, Marano Principato has become the only municipality in Calabria to receive funding through the PAC 2026, a contemporary art plan promoted by the Ministry of Culture. The “Orizzonte in Trama” project, presented by the Museo Cesare Baccelli, was selected as one of 29 national projects. Artist Stefano Arienti will create a site-specific jacquard tapestry titled “Orizzonte lontano e vicino,” inspired by the Cosenza landscape, to be added to the museum's public collection.
