Trenitalia updates Cosenza-Taranto rail schedule

Trenitalia is completing a two-phase rescheduling of the Cosenza-Sibari-Metaponto-Taranto rail link to meet requirements set by the Calabria Region. The adjustments aim to make the service more functional for commuters, students, and professionals.

The first phase, affecting outbound travel, began on October 18. Regional train R7712 now departs Cosenza at 4:28, allowing passengers to reach Taranto by 7:30. The second phase, affecting return travel, takes effect on October 26. Regional train R7722 will depart Taranto at 14:47, a 39-minute delay from the previous 14:08 departure.

Regional Transport Councilor Gianluca Gallo noted that the connection is strategic and will be co-financed by the Basilicata and Puglia regions starting this December, strengthening institutional cooperation and connectivity across Southern Italy.
