Italian regional authorities address labor disputes and autonomy issues
In Reggio Emilia, regional and provincial authorities have committed to supporting workers affected by the Realco bankruptcy proceedings. Following a meeting between the provincial president and the regional labor assessor, officials are coordinating efforts to protect employment, manage the transition of retail locations to new owners, and facilitate worker relocation through training and social safety nets. The proceedings, overseen by the Court of Bologna, involve approximately 100 employees across 14 retail points, including three locations in the Reggio Emilia territory.
In Friuli Venezia Giulia, Governor Massimiliano Fedriga has vowed to defend the region's special autonomy following a setback regarding the renewal of the single sector contract (Comparto unico). The Court of Auditors declined to certify a preliminary agreement for the 2022-2024 period, which affects roughly 13,000 local government employees. While technical discussions continue between the administration and the judiciary, Fedriga emphasized that the dispute is about upholding regional special status rather than mere administrative protection.
