Italian regional boxing tournaments attract crowds in Castellaneta and Nocera

The ninth edition of “Boxe sotto le stelle” was held in Piazza Selene, Castellaneta Marina and organized by the Quero‑Chiloiro society. The event drew a large audience and was attended by local officials Agostino De Bellis and Giuseppe Angelillo, as well as Federboxe president Nicola Causi. The headline professional middleweight bout saw Italian boxer Marco Merro defeat Serbian challenger Danilo Jovic, improving his record to 5‑1. Amateur contests also featured, with Nicola Cesarano winning the under‑19 75 kg trophy.

The second edition of the Nocera Boxe Night took place in Nocera Terinese, featuring eleven inter‑regional matches between representatives of Calabria and Campania. Organized by Pugilato Lametino under municipal patronage, the night was praised by organizer Angelino Mascaro and mayor Saverio Russo. A tribute to the late young boxer Francesco Vescio was held, and all bouts were decided on points.
