Italian regional councils approve budget adjustments
Regional councils in Italy have approved significant budget adjustments for the 2026 period. In the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the council passed a bill regarding budget variations for 2026-2028 with 19 votes in favor and 15 against. Key discussions included proposals for financial incentives to help families fund radon gas remediation in private homes and requests for discounted rates at the Merano Terme for individuals with disabilities.
Separately, the Friuli Venezia Giulia regional council approved a 98 million euro autumn budget adjustment. Regional Finance Councilor Barbara Zilli stated the funds, derived from increased tax revenues and resource optimization, are intended to support businesses, families, and local territories. The allocation includes 24 million euros for infrastructure and territory—covering highway connectivity, renewables, and the Pordenone Interporto—as well as 23 million euros for productive activities and tourism. Additional funds are earmarked for school buildings, energy efficiency, and cultural and sporting activities, including support for the Eyof 2027 youth championships.
