Italian regional initiatives honor Resistance history

Various regional initiatives in Italy are organizing events to commemorate the history and values of the Resistance.

In the upper Ellero Valley, a commemorative walk is scheduled for September 6. The event features two different hiking routes starting from Baracco and Artesina, both leading to the Grotta dei Partigiani in Roccaforte Mondovì. This site is a symbolic location where a group of young partisans sought refuge during a German raid in December 1944. The initiative is a collaboration between ANPI branches in Mondovì, Carrù, and Fossano, aimed at rediscovering partisan paths and promoting peace.

Additionally, an event titled ‘Partisans and Peasants in Alta Val Tanaro’ will take place at the Mulino Rosso in Bagnasco. Organized by Arci and ANPI, the program focuses on the historical reconstruction of the Resistance in the Tanaro Valley. The event will address specific historical massacres in Pievetta and Bagnasco, while highlighting the essential support provided by the local civilian population to the partisan fighters.
