Italian Regional Theatrical Revivals Highlight Community Resilience

In Macerata, the Sferisterio arena staged a production of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” directed by Mexican filmmaker Francisco Negrin. The performance, attended by the province’s 55 mayors including Sandro Parcaroli, marked the tenth anniversary of the August 24 2016 earthquake that devastated the area.

At the Laghi di Sibari complex, the Calabrian troupe Compagnia Telys presented the comedy “Il Morto è vivo” on August 5. The show was promoted as a symbol of the community’s recovery after the severe February flood that damaged the tourist facilities.
