Italian regions commit €47 million to school upgrades and textbook assistance
The Trentino provincial council approved funding of almost €46 million for municipal school building projects. The money will support structural, seismic and energy‑efficiency upgrades, as well as the construction of new school facilities where justified. Municipalities can apply for the grants until 30 November under the criteria set by the province.
In Umbria, the regional government allocated €1.322 million for free or subsidised school textbooks for the 2026‑27 academic year. €985 000 is earmarked for compulsory‑school students and €336 000 for upper‑secondary pupils. Families with an ISEE not exceeding €15 493.71 are eligible, and applications must be submitted to the local municipality by 7 October. The measure aims to remove financial barriers to education for low‑income households.
