Italian regions expand child health and school inclusion programs

In Catania, the local health authority (ASP) completed a pediatric choking‑prevention training program that reached 857 participants across 60 schools. The initiative combined webinars, in‑person sessions and practical exercises to teach families, teachers and childcare workers how to prevent airway obstruction and perform emergency maneuvers.

In Rimini, the municipality invested more than €7 million in its school‑inclusion model, supporting 578 minors and delivering nearly 197 000 educational hours across 77 schools. The program provides continuous support inside and outside school hours, introduces a digital individual archive to track each child's progress, and offers specialist behavioral analysis and transition services for young adults.
