Italian Regions Launch Sports Awards Honoring Volunteers and Youth

The Lombardy regional government introduced the "Premio Ideale Sportivo", a new award recognizing 21 amateur sports clubs and 21 volunteers for promoting ethical values, social inclusion and well‑being through sport. The initiative, proposed by President Attilio Fontana and supported by Sports and Youth Under‑Secretary Federica Picchi, aims to make sport accessible to all, especially the young, elderly and people with disabilities.

In the Marche region, the municipality of Ancona presented the 2026 Fair Play award to 12‑year‑old footballer Cristhian Ursachi of ASD Le Grazie Juvenilia. The ceremony, attended by Vice‑Mayor Giovanni Zinni and regional Fair Play delegate Giorgio Sartini, highlighted the importance of respect and loyalty on and off the field as part of sport’s social role.

Both awards reflect a broader effort across Italian regions to use sport as a tool for ethical education and community cohesion.
