Italian religious figures remembered for humanitarian work
The lives and legacies of two Italian religious figures, Father Flavio Paoli and Deacon Franco Brogi, are being honored following their passing.
Father Flavio Paoli, a missionary from Val di Non, is remembered for his thirty years of service in Africa, specifically in Eritrea and Burkina Faso. His life, documented in a new book by Giorgio Viganò, highlights his commitment to the poor, his work with youth, and his perspectives on war, development, and immigration.
Deacon and writer Franco Brogi, a Florentine dedicated to migrant solidarity, has left behind a spiritual testament in his final book, ‘Eclissi dell’etica’ (Eclipse of Ethics). Published posthumously, the work reflects on justice, human dignity, and the decline of ethics in contemporary society, drawing from his twenty years of experience with Caritas.
