Italian rescue teams air‑lift injured e‑bike rider and dehydrated hiker

On the night of 8 July, a man riding an e‑bike fell roughly 80 metres into a ravine near Bagolino in Lombardy. Alpine rescue units, Carabinieri and a helicopter located him in the difficult terrain, stabilised him and transferred him by air to the Civil Hospital in Brescia where he was treated for serious injuries.

The following day, 9 July, a 19‑year‑old hiker suffered a heat‑related collapse on Monte Capanne, the highest point of the Island of Elba. Alpine and speleological rescue teams deployed the regional Pegaso 2 helicopter, winched the young man to safety and flew him to the nearest hospital for medical care.

Both incidents highlight coordinated mountain‑rescue operations in Italy, involving alpine units and air‑rescue assets to reach victims in remote, rugged locations.
