Italian rescue teams intervene: woman saved from bridge suicide attempt and hikers rescued on Monte Navegna

Police officers from the San Giuseppe Vesuviano precinct rescued a 38‑year‑old woman who had climbed over the parapet of a 30‑metre high bridge on State Road 268 near Ottaviano and was attempting to jump. After a dialogue lasting several minutes, the officers safely pulled her back onto the bridge and she was later transferred to a hospital in Nola.

In the Lazio region, a specialized Alpine‑Speleological team of the fire brigade, assisted by an air‑rescue helicopter, retrieved a couple of hikers who were stranded on Monte Navegna after a sudden storm and hailstorm. The hikers were winched to safety and taken to the nearby town of Fonte Raina, with no further injuries reported.
