Italian rescuers honored for lifesaving efforts
Local authorities in Italy have held ceremonies to recognize individuals for their bravery and professionalism in maritime and emergency rescues.
In San Vincenzo, a ceremony was held at the Teatro Roma in Castagneto Carducci to present certificates of recognition to lifeguards. The initiative, proposed by the Port Authority and organized with the municipalities of Castagneto Carducci and San Vincenzo, honored those who ensured the safety of citizens and tourists during the 2026 summer season. Officials including Mayors Sandra Scarpellini and Paolo Riccucci attended to thank the professionals for their dedication to prevention and rescue operations.
In Trieste, the municipal administration honored seven rescuers for saving a driver whose car plunged into the sea near Molo Audace in July. The group of rescuers included six military personnel from the Modena Military Academy and a local entrepreneur. Each recipient was presented with the bronze Seal of the City of Trieste and a parchment of recognition during a ceremony at the Trieste City Hall.
