Italian residents launch petitions for road safety and urban greenery

Local residents in various Italian municipalities are using petitions to demand improvements to public infrastructure and urban environments.

In Rocca San Zenone, councilor Guido Verdecchia has raised an urgent inquiry regarding dangerous road and pedestrian conditions. Residents have sought life-saving interventions for nearly a year, specifically targeting a stretch of road near a bus terminus and parking area. Concerns include poor visibility due to curves, a lack of lighting, excessive vehicle speeds, and degraded signage. Proposed solutions include the installation of speed cameras, deterrents, and improved lighting.

In Castrocaro Terme, a group of citizens has launched a petition to restore greenery to Piazza Mazzini. The movement, sparked by recent extreme heat, argues that the 2010 redesign replaced natural elements like trees and flowerbeds with heat-reflective paving. Signatories are calling for the removal of certain paving and the replanting of trees and flowerbeds to mitigate heat and return the square to its original character. Mayor Billi has stated he is open to suggestions.
