Italian residents protest urban decay and abandoned waste in towns

Residents of via Micioccoli complained that the street is overgrown with tall grass and littered with waste, saying regular tax payments should guarantee basic maintenance. They called for immediate mowing and a thorough clean‑up to restore safety and hygiene.

In Como's historic centre, inhabitants of Piazza Gobetti reported similar neglect, adding that drunken groups, frequent disturbances and a recent fire that burned a palm tree have made the area feel unsafe. Mayor Alessandro Rapinese said he lacks the tools to act, despite residents’ demands for a livable, dignified environment.

Both groups are urging local authorities to address the lack of green‑space upkeep, waste removal and public‑order measures.
