Italian Rugby Clubs Catania, Palermo, Perugia and Gubbio Secure Promotions

The Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) confirmed the promotion of CUS Catania Rugby to the men’s Serie A and Palermo Rugby to Serie B after a season of strong results. FIR regional president Orazio Arancio said, “We are obviously delighted – both ripescaggi are absolutely deserved.”

In Umbria, the region achieved a historic milestone as Rugby Perugia retained its place in Serie A for a twelfth time and Rugby Gubbio earned its first‑ever Serie A spot for the 2026‑27 season. FIR delegate Egiziano Polenzani described the achievement as “satisfaction, enthusiasm and gratitude,” while Gubbio president Andrea Frondizi added, “We are very satisfied with the promotion and ready to build on this growth.”
