Italian Rugby Serie A lineup for 2026‑27 season confirmed

The Federazione Italiana Rugby approved the structure and participants of the 2026/27 national championships at its council meeting in Bologna on 27 July. ASD Rugby Gubbio 1984 earned promotion to Serie A for the first time in its history after finishing third in Serie B with 68 points. The club, coached by McDonnell, will begin the season on 18 October 2026 and will face traditional rivals such as Rugby Perugia, L’Aquila, Paganica, San Benedetto, Alto Lazio, Roma, Lazio, Primavera, Napoli and Catania.

Rugby Perugia also secured a ripescaggio (re‑entry) into Serie A, joining the same group. The club confirmed the continuation of coach Alfredo De Angelis and plans to upgrade its facilities in partnership with the municipality, including energy‑efficient locker rooms and a new gym. Perugia will finalize its roster in the coming days, retaining most of last season’s players while adding new signings.
