Ninfea Festival launches with €20 million PNRR boost in Monticchio

The third edition of the Ninfea Festival opened on 30 July in the small town of Monticchio (Basilicata). Backed by a €20 million investment from the EU‑backed PNRR plan, the three‑day programme combines concerts, debates and workshops on regeneration, sustainability and community life. Headliners include pop‑star Levante and folk groups such as Peppe Leone’s tamburello orchestra, while local officials and scholars discuss new models of rural habitation.

In Bologna, the Festival Suoni di Pace, part of the Bologna Estate summer programme, presented youth orchestras from Italy and abroad, raising funds for the Conservatory of Ramallah and promoting a message of solidarity and peace.

The Ater Fondazione coordinated a regional cultural tour across Emilia‑Romagna, staging concerts, theatre and open‑air performances from the Po riverbanks to the Apennine mountains, featuring artists such as Andrea Pennacchi and Marco D’Agostin.

Other Italian towns hosted their own summer celebrations: Bicinicco revived its traditional “Festa della Trebbiatura” with music, games and local food; San Lorenzo al Mare staged the itinerant Goldoniana theatre series; Fano Jazz by the Sea concluded with a Moroccan Amazigh ensemble, Tasuta N‑Imal; Reggio Emilia offered rock concerts and a tango dance night; and Ronciglione held a singing contest honoring Marco Mengoni.

These events illustrate a nationwide push to revitalize local culture, attract visitors and reinforce community ties during the summer season.
