Italian Sailing Championships 2026: gSpot Tops J/70 Cup, Morgan V Wins Altura Title

The J/70 Cup 2026 held at Torbole concluded its second day after six races. Team gSpot, skippered by Matteo Marenghi Vaselli, secured the Garmin Cup prize by winning the first two races and overtaking previous leader Paint It Black (Michael Grau). The team moved into first place overall, with Grau’s crew falling to second and Callisto (William Felder) close behind. The competition, organized by Circolo Vela Torbole and the J/70 Italian Class, will finish with two more races tomorrow.

In Gaeta, the Italian Altura Championship (Edison Next 2026) wrapped up after eight races across three groups. In Group 1 Class A, the Swan 42 Morgan V owned by Nicola de Gemmis claimed the title. Group 1 Class B was won by the 1198 To Be of Stefano Rusconi, while the Cape 31 Chisum of Andrea Castrucci topped Group 2 (Class C). The event featured 33 boats racing in steady 10‑14 knot winds and a 25‑mile coastal leg.
