Italian sailors claim silver at European Optimist and strong showing at Open Drifting in San Benedetto

Giorgio Nibbi of the Circolo Nautico Sanbenedettese secured the silver medal at the European Optimist 2026 championship in Gdynia, finishing behind Greek champion Nikolaos Pappas. The event featured a single final race that determined the podium, with Italy placing second in the Nations Cup behind Spain.

Meanwhile, the Circolo Nautico Vincenzo Migliori from Giulianova delivered solid performances at the 26th Open Drifting La Sfida held in San Benedetto del Tronto from July 31 to August 2. The club’s boats showed technical consistency and competitiveness across the three‑day regatta, reinforcing the vitality of Giulianova’s sailing community.
