Italian school principals demand resolution on delayed salary contracts

Attilio Fratta, president of DIRIGENTISCUOLA, has formally requested that Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti finalize the 2024/25 national integrative contract (CIN) for school principals. The process has been stalled for over a year, preventing the payment of variable compensation, performance bonuses, and arrears.

The delay is attributed to the pending approval from the General Inspectorate for Personnel Regulations (IGOP) within the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Without this definitive signature, the National Single Fund (FUN)—which finances position-based pay and complexity-related components—cannot be distributed to school leaders.

In addition to DIRIGENTISCUOLA, other trade unions and the National Association of Principals (ANP) have expressed frustration over the timeline, calling for urgent meetings to resolve the impasse.
