Italian school staff arrears payments set for July 2026
On 16 June the Italian Council of Ministers gave final approval to the economic part of the new school contract. The last procedural step, registration by the Court of Auditors, is expected by the end of June, after which the arrears are scheduled to be credited through the public payroll system (NoiPA) in July 2026.
The payment covers more than one million school workers—teachers, administrative‑technical (ATA) staff, assistants, substitutes and retirees—and compensates salary differences accrued between 1 January 2025 and 30 June 2026. Estimated median increases are about €143 gross per month for teachers and €107 for ATA staff; total arrears could average €800 and exceed €1,000 for some categories, with the exact amount depending on seniority and individual profile.
