Italian school staff confront unpaid compensation and pension shortfalls

Union representatives Eleonora Verde (FGC CGIL Modena) and Carmelo Randazzo (CISL Scuola Emilia Centrale) reported that staff of the Ic Ferrari school in Maranello have not received any of the roughly €400,000 owed for five PNRR‑funded projects, including programmes to combat school dropout and to boost STEM and multilingual skills. The unions criticised the Ministry of Education and the provincial school office for failing to resolve the payments despite completed and documented activities.

Separately, legal experts warned that many school workers may also be missing pension contributions on sums paid by the Ministry of Education, such as arrears and career‑reconstruction payments. The law suspends the prescription period for these contributions until 31 December 2026, urging staff to verify their INPS records and seek professional advice to protect future pension entitlements.
