Italian schools boost civic awareness with student‑led legal and solidarity projects

In Reggio Calabria, pupils from the primary schools B. Telesio and G. Ciraolo took part in a courtroom simulation at the Minor’s Court, acting as judges, prosecutors, lawyers and witnesses. The activity concluded the XI edition of the “Legalità, Ascolto e Inclusione” programme, organised by the Dike Association to teach children about legality, anti‑bullying and the responsibilities of citizenship.

In Prato, students of the Datini Hospitality Institute carried out the “GenSolidare” initiative, a component of the Get Up educational pact supported by the Società della Salute. Over two sessions they taught pastry skills to young people living in local family homes and semi‑residential centres, prepared and distributed baked goods, and planned further donations funded by a €5,000 budget. Both projects aim to translate classroom learning into concrete community service and foster a culture of inclusion and civic participation among Italian youth.
