Italian Schools Deploy QR Code System to Combat Bullying

The Laeng‑Meucci institute, with campuses in Osimo and Castelfidardo, launched a campaign against bullying and cyber‑bullying that includes a printed flyer with a QR code. The code directs students to an anonymous online form where they can safely report incidents, reinforcing the school’s message that silence can be as harmful as the bullying itself.

The initiative is part of a broader discussion in Italy about protecting young people from digital abuse, highlighted by a recent case in which a student was victimised by a deep‑fake image created with artificial‑intelligence tools. Experts and educators are urging the inclusion of comprehensive affective and sexual education in curricula to teach consent, emotion management and how to recognise and name violence, aiming to disarm such abuses before they spread.
