Italian schools receive 74 portable air conditioners for nurseries

Local authorities are expanding cooling measures for municipal nurseries and kindergartens in response to rising temperatures. An additional 74 portable air conditioners are being distributed to these 0-6 age educational facilities, supplementing the 28 units provided earlier in June for summer programs.

The initiative aims to ensure appropriate microclimates in resting areas for children, supporting the well-being of both students and staff during periods of extreme heat.

Federica Venturelli, the Councilor for Educational Policies, noted that these portable units are not a permanent solution. She emphasized the need for long-term energy efficiency upgrades and the installation of centralized air conditioning systems in schools. Venturelli called on the national government to implement a comprehensive energy efficiency plan and provide adequate resources to local authorities to address these infrastructure needs across Italy.
