Italian schools roll out new reading spaces and summer programs

A new reading space called BiblioLab was inaugurated on 30 May at the Villa Rosa primary school in Martinsicuro, Teramo province. The laboratory is designed to bring books and storytelling into daily classroom activity, offering guided readings, creative projects and a permanent place for students to explore literature.

In Lecco, the provincial library system launched a summer reading campaign for primary and lower‑secondary pupils. Children receive a booklet, "Libri e Segreti tra le mura del castello," while teenagers are offered the guide "Lib(e)ro di connetterti," encouraging them to reflect on relationships, digital communication and a range of fiction and graphic novels. All suggested titles are available for loan at Lecco libraries.

Both initiatives aim to promote reading habit, imagination and critical thinking among young Italians.
