C. Cattaneo Institute in San Miniato nears completion of major renovations
Major renovation works are nearing completion at the C. Cattaneo Institute in San Miniato. The project, managed by the Province of Pisa, is funded by the European Union through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) with a total investment of €2,552,879.08.
The interventions specifically addressed the structural safety of the building's facades, following damage caused by high winds and a brick collapse in 2017. Key improvements include the reconstruction of the perimeter walls, the installation of high-performance thermal insulation, and the replacement of all window frames.
Beyond structural repairs, the project has enhanced the building's energy efficiency, upgraded internal school spaces, and resolved long-standing issues with the water drainage system. Safety measures were also bolstered by creating a new vehicular access point on via Catena to ensure emergency services can reach all sides of the building. The exterior grounds, including sidewalks and paths, have also been redeveloped to improve accessibility for students.
