Italian schools win top honors in legality and road‑safety student contests

The Instituto Comprensivo “Colombo‑Solimena” in Avellino secured first place in the graphic‑novel category of the ninth edition of the “PretenDiamo Legalità” competition, a project run by the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Education to promote civic values, anti‑bullying and digital citizenship. The school also earned two second‑place awards in primary‑school categories, with the winning work titled “Tutto per invidia”. The provincial prize ceremony is scheduled for 29 May in Avellino.

In Siracusa, the 18th edition of the “Un Casco vale una Vita” road‑safety contest concluded in Melilli. Organized by the provincial Carabinieri command with the regional school office and safety firm ISAB, the event reached about 5,000 students across 33 schools, focusing on helmet use, road safety, and bullying prevention. Participants received 153 donated helmets, and the three top graphic‑design entries were awarded tablets. Both initiatives underscore a coordinated effort by Italian authorities to foster a culture of legality and safety among young people.
