Italian seasonal culinary traditions highlight apples and blackberries

Various regional culinary traditions in Italy highlight seasonal fruits. In Luvinate, the Pro Loco organizes an annual Apple Festival in early October, centered around the Renette apple. A long-standing tradition of the event is the serving of apple fritters, a recipe passed down by volunteers for over thirty years that uses a simple batter of egg, milk, and flour.

Additionally, blackberries (Rubus) are noted for their seasonal peak between August and September. These fruits, which can be wild or cultivated, are rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and flavonoids. They are versatile ingredients used in both sweet preparations, such as jams and desserts, and savory dishes or liqueurs.
