Italian security system tackles new global disorder challenges

A seminar titled “The Italian security system facing the challenges of the new global disorder” was held at the Europa Experience ‘David Sassoli’, the European Parliament’s representation in Italy. The event was part of the high‑level training course “Leadership, intelligence and defence” and was organized by Spes Academy ‘Carlo Azeglio Ciampi’, the Fondazione Aises, ConnectEd Mind and the Italian Society of Intelligence (Socint).

Speakers included Valerio De Luca, president of Fondazione Aises and director of Spes Academy; Luca Scognamillo, head of cabinet of the Department of Information for Security (DIS); ambassador Francesco Talò, special envoy for IMEC; and Daniele Ruvinetti, senior advisor at the Fondazione MedOr. De Luca highlighted that national security now depends more on the quality of decisions than on resources, noting the launch of ConnectEd Mind, Italy’s first cognitive‑security start‑up that integrates critical thinking, leadership, artificial intelligence and intelligence methods. The seminar also examined the new crisis‑management model introduced by the DPCM of 22 April 2026, aimed at improving inter‑institutional coordination and response to increasingly complex, multidimensional threats. Participants stressed the need for an integrated vision that combines intelligence, innovation, economic resilience and human‑capital development, and called for stronger cooperation among allies and strategic partners to safeguard security, energy, technology, economy and infrastructure.
