Italian Senate hosts meeting on tire retreading industry potential
Stakeholders, institutions, and industry associations met at the Italian Senate in Rome to discuss the strategic potential of the tire retreading sector. Promoted by Senator Antonio Trevisi, the meeting included representatives from associations such as AIRP and major companies including Bridgestone and Michelin.
Professor Fabio Orecchini, who moderated the event, highlighted tire regeneration as a highly effective model of the circular economy. He noted that while the process often escapes public perception, it is critical for heavy vehicles. International studies suggest the retreading sector is poised for significant growth, with an estimated annual increase of 8%, potentially reaching a turnover of 18 billion euros by 2035.
Participants emphasized the environmental, economic, and social benefits of tire reconstruction, with industry leaders calling for increased information and awareness regarding the value of remanufactured products.
