Italian Serie D football: pre‑season draw and Reggina’s promotion push

Tau Altopascio and newly promoted Serie C side Grosseto played a joint training match at the Carlo Zecchini stadium in Grosseto, ending 2‑2. Francesco Spatani scored both goals for Tau, giving the club a positive indication of its attacking potential ahead of the upcoming Serie D season.

The Serie D Group I for the 2026/27 season has been set as a Calabria‑Sicily axis, with Reggina leading the charge for a return to professional ranks. Other Calabrian clubs Vibonese, Sambiase, Vigor Lamezia and the newly promoted Praiatortora will compete alongside Sicilian sides such as Trapani, Siracusa, Athletic Palermo and several others, creating a competitive environment for promotion.
