Peppino di Capri’s two wives: Roberta Stoppa and Giuliana Gagliardi

Italian singer Peppino di Capri married his first wife, model Roberta Stoppa, in May 1961. The couple met in 1959 on Ischia, welcomed son Igor in 1970 and divorced in 1976. Di Capri dedicated the 1963 hit “Roberta” to her.

During the late 1960s he began a relationship with Naples‑born biologist Giuliana Gagliardi. After the divorce from Stoppa, the two married in 1978 and had two sons, Edoardo (1981) and Dario (1986). Giuliana’s support coincided with a career revival: Di Capri founded his own label, and in 1973 won the Sanremo Festival with “Un grande amore e niente più”, a song he says was dedicated to her.

Both women have been portrayed in recent media, including the 2025 Rai drama “Champagne – Peppino di Capri”, which prompted Stoppa to give a public interview clarifying aspects of their shared past.
