Italian Singer Pupo Announces Mother Irene Ghinazzi’s Death

Italian pop star Enzo Ghinazzi, known as Pupo, announced on Instagram that his 93‑year‑old mother, Irene Ghinazzi, had died after a seven‑year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. In his post he wrote, “Per tutto l’affetto che mi avete dimostrato ogni volta che vi ho parlato della mia mamma, ritengo sia giusto informarvi che Irene è volata in cielo. Ma non da sola, accompagnata da una parte di me,” and shared photos of them together at different stages of his life.

Pupo had previously cancelled a concert scheduled for 19 May in Naples to remain with his family during his mother’s deteriorating health. The announcement drew thousands of supportive comments from fans and fellow entertainers on social media.
