Italian singer Pupo sits for high‑school graduation exams at age 70

Italian pop star Enzo Ghinazzi, known as Pupo, has returned to the classroom to sit the written and oral portions of the national high‑school graduation exam (Maturità) at the Istituto Minerva in Rome. At 70 years old, he joins more than half a million other students taking the first written test, after leaving school at 16 to pursue his music career.

Pupo says the exam “won’t technically be useful to me, but it will boost my self‑esteem and confidence,” adding that he wants to honor his late parents. He will be examined in Italian and law and plans to enrol in a university communication program afterward. For the exam day he chose a blue double‑breasted suit, a Rolex GMT Master and a Montblanc pen, underscoring his determination to take the challenge seriously.
