Italian soldier killed by falling tree branch in Jesolo
Matteo Ambu, a 46-year-old Italian soldier, was killed on October 21 while driving to a military barracks in Padua. The incident occurred in Jesolo on Via Roma Destra during severe weather conditions characterized by strong winds.
A heavy branch from a plane tree fell onto the roof of Ambu’s Fiat Tipo, crushing the vehicle's interior and leaving him with no chance of survival. Ambu, a 'Primo graduato' who had served in Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Kosovo, was traveling from his home in the Ca’ Savio district of Cavallino Treporti to work.
Local prosecutors have launched an investigation to determine if there were any failures regarding tree maintenance in the area.
