Italian Space Agency Board Resignations Prompt Commissioner Appointment
Three members of the Italian Space Agency’s Board of Directors – vice‑president Elda Turco Bulgherini and councillors Stefano Gualandris and Stefano Arcifa – submitted their resignations, causing the board to cease functioning. Their departure follows the earlier loss of the agency’s president, Teodoro Valente, leaving the institution without top leadership.
The resignations open the way for the government to place the agency under a commissioner to restore full operational capacity and to appoint a new president and board ahead of upcoming national, European and multilateral space initiatives. The situation was presented to the government by Minister for Enterprises and Made‑in‑Italy Adolfo Urso, who serves as the delegated authority for space and aerospace policy.
