Italian Speed Climbers Excel at World Youth Climbing Championships in Arco

The fourth day of the World Youth Climbing Championships (Speed discipline) took place in Arco, Italy, featuring ten Italian sprinters. In the U17 men's qualifiers, nine athletes broke the six‑second barrier, with Jacopo Titi posting a personal best of 5.61 seconds and securing fifth place, which earned him a spot in the final. Titi advanced past the round of 16 and quarter‑finals before finishing fourth after a semifinal loss to China’s Zhou.

In the U19 men’s competition, Francesco Ponzinibio recorded the fastest qualifying time of 5.04 seconds, later reaching the quarter‑finals where an error led to his elimination, leaving him in fifth place overall. Other notable Italian results included Carolina Mariani (U17 women) qualifying 20th with 8.72 s, and Sara Strocchi (U19 women) achieving 11th place with a 7.61 s run.
