Italian Sports Minister Andrea Abodi Calls for Transparency in FIGC Election
At the World Grand Prix Taekwondo in Rome, Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi said Italy must ensure full legal legitimacy before the next president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) is chosen. He stressed that “it is necessary to have absolute guarantee that everything is carried out in full legitimacy” and called for clarity ahead of the election.
Abodi explained that he has asked ANAC and the CONI College of Guarantees for technical‑legal opinions, following a parliamentary inquiry, to address doubts over the candidacy of Giovanni Malagò and the so‑called “pantouflage” issue. He concluded that “it is better to clarify first, then proceed,” aiming to secure a transparent and legitimate FIGC leadership transition.
