Italian Sports Minister Andrea Abodi outlines stadium plan for Euro 2028 and coach selection debate
Minister of Sport Andrea Abodi told Sky TG24 that a UEFA‑guided table is being prepared to name candidate and reserve stadiums for Euro 2028. He said the process uses objective parameters, involves municipal owners, the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s financial tools, and coordination with Minister Salvini on related infrastructure. Abodi noted that Milan’s stadium remains a problem that must be solved, but that the clubs (Milan and Inter) and the city are ready to move forward.
Abodi also addressed the national team coaching issue, saying he does not know whether Pep Guardiola considered the role and that mentioning him was a gamble. He emphasized that the field will decide whether hiring Massimiliano Pirlo is a sensible long‑term choice, and warned that success depends on the whole system and club contributions, not just the coach’s name.
