Italian State Police and Unipol seal road safety protocol

The Italian Ministry of the Interior’s Public Security Department, the State Police’s Central Directorate of Specialties, and insurance group Unipol Assicurazioni signed a protocol to strengthen road‑traffic safety. The agreement provides for the sharing of anonymised, aggregated traffic data and joint analysis of road‑network risks, aiming to improve preventive measures and protect road users.

Key components include educational initiatives targeting young people and students, awareness campaigns, and training programmes to promote responsible driving habits. Prefect Renato Cortese highlighted the collective responsibility for road safety, while Unipol CEO Matteo Laterza emphasized the private‑public partnership’s role in reducing accidents. The protocol seeks to combine technology, data, and behaviour‑change strategies within a collaborative ecosystem.
