Italian State Police conclude summer road safety campaign
The Italian State Police have concluded a summer road safety and prevention campaign titled “Questa sera guido io” (Tonight I am driving). The initiative focused on promoting responsible driving habits in popular nightlife and beach locations across Italy, including recent stops in Porto Rotondo and San Cataldo.
Central to the campaign is the concept of the “designated driver,” encouraging individuals in social groups to abstain from alcohol to ensure everyone returns home safely. To support this, participating venues offered incentives such as non-alcoholic drinks and free entry to designated drivers. Police officers also distributed single-use breathalyzers to help individuals check their sobriety levels.
In addition to awareness talks with young people regarding the risks of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the campaign included practical demonstrations. At the Soleluna Lido in San Cataldo, the event featured martial arts demonstrations by Nando Colaci to engage the public. The initiative was supported by various organizations, including the Ania Foundation, Silb Fibe, Sib Fipe, and FederBalneari Italia.
