Italian student transit subsidies face debate over income limits

In Perugia, local councilor Nicola Volpi has called for the expansion of Busitalia's discounted annual student transit passes. While the program offers a 70-euro rate, it is currently restricted to students with an Isee income below 30,000 euros. Volpi argues that this threshold may penalize middle-class families and working professionals who face rising living costs, suggesting the benefit should be extended to all students regardless of income.

In Cagliari, Ctm has launched the renewal process for subsidized student transit passes for the upcoming period. These passes, which cost between 35 and 70 euros depending on Isee levels, are available to students up to age 27. Ctm President Fabrizio Rodin emphasized that ensuring accessible and sustainable mobility is a priority to support school and university attendance.
