Italian Summer Festivals Celebrate Local Traditions in Savelletri and Pescasseroli
The coastal village of Savelletri will hold its traditional “Sagra del Pesce Spada alla Griglia” on Saturday, 8 August, as part of the celebrations for its patron, San Francesco da Paola. The evening program begins at 20:00 in the port area, featuring grilled swordfish prepared according to local fishermen’s recipes, accompanied by live music from the Taranta Fil Morena group. The event is organized by the Comitato “Borgo di Savelletri” and highlights the community’s maritime heritage.
In the Abruzzo town of Pescasseroli, the theatrical production “Francesco giullare di Dio” makes its national debut at the Festival “Alice nel Paese del Teatro” on 6 and 7 August. Directed by Mario Fracassi and produced by the Teatro Stabile d’Abruzzo in collaboration with Fantacadabra, the play portrays the life of St Francis of Assisi through a mix of comedy, drama, music and visual art. The performance aims to present the saint’s spiritual legacy in a contemporary, poetic format.
