Italian supply chain risks and defaults on the rise
The Cribis Supply Chain Outlook 2026 report indicates a rising trend in default rates and cyber risks among Italian companies. An analysis of 50,000 firms reveals that financial risks are increasingly linked to payment delays. Only 42.3% of companies pay by the due date, with delays exceeding 90 days in 5% of cases. This trend impacts all levels of the supply chain, particularly since 76% of suppliers are small or micro-enterprises.
Additionally, the study highlights compliance challenges, noting that 26.8% of suppliers present high compliance risks. The current multi-risk environment is prompting Italian businesses to shift focus from being purely price-centric toward prioritizing quality and deeper visibility into supply chain tiers beyond the first level.
