Italian Taekwondo Federation moves to include traditional sector
The Italian Taekwondo Federation (FITA) has initiated a process to include traditional taekwondo associations within its Olympic-linked structure. FITA President Angelo Cito met with representatives from FITAE-ITF at the Giulio Onesti Olympic Training Center in Rome to discuss the creation of a ‘Settore Tradizionale’ (Traditional Sector) within the federation.
This move follows regulatory changes approved by the Italian National Olympic Committee in December 2025, which allowed for the affiliation of traditional taekwondo organizations that operate outside the World Taekwondo circuit. The initiative aims to bridge historical divisions in the sport and provide more opportunities for athletes, coaches, and clubs while respecting their specific identities.
While the meeting marks a significant step toward unifying the national taekwondo movement, specific details regarding affiliation timelines, competition structures, training, or grading systems have not yet been released by FITA.
